Lecture Topic: Mental Health in Athletes


Dr. Karen Katrina V. Trinidad is a registered psychologist and certified specialist in Clinical Psychology. She earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology last 2015 at the University of Sto. Tomas (Cum Laude); and currently a faculty member of the Department of Psychology in the same university. She is also the Head-Sports Psychologist of the Sports Psychology Unit at Philippine Sports Commission who continues to provide mental toughness programs for various national teams. She is also doing her consultancy at St. Lukes Medical Center-Quezon City and Beyond Rehab Clinic at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. 

Dr. Trinidad is also a resource speaker for various topics grounded on mental health and sports psychology. She also remains an active member of Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP), American Psychological Association (APA), Association For Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), Asian-South Pacific Association of Sport Psychology (ASPASP).

Mental health is a vital part of an athlete’s life and impacts their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. It promotes productivity and effectiveness in their everyday routine. When athletes take care of their mental health they are able to cope with difficult times in both their personal and professional lives.
